Welcome To Our Year 4 Class Page!
This half term our work will be focused around the topic of Bonfire Night with the question of 'Why must we remember the 5th of November?' We will be learning all about the failed gunpowder plot of 1605, what lead to it and it's implications thereafter.
In Maths we will be developing our knowledge and understanding of Addition and Subtraction as well as Measurements including Lengths and Perimeters.
TT Rockstars - We aim to complete our challenges 3 times per week in order to improve the speed and accuracy of our times tables.
Pupils are encouraged to access the TT Rockstars website from home in order to further support their progress in this area. (TT Rockstars login details can be found in the back of your child's homework book.)
Our Science topic this half term is States of Matter and we are very excited to take part in lots of practical activities, learn about solids, liquids and gasses, and put our new knowledge to the test by making scientific predictions!
Spellings will be taught on a Monday with Miss Dyson, set for homework and then tested the following Monday.
Children are encouraged to read from their reading books everyday. Reading books should be brought into school each morning and taken home each evening along with children's green reading diaries. Reading books will be changed weekly every Monday and set for homework.
PE is taught on a Tuesday by Mr Jacobs whose lessons will focus on the children's sporting age, looking at their fundamental movement skills. PE on a Friday is taught by Mr Wormald whose lessons will focus on exploring the children's athletics skills. Pupils should come to school dressed in their PE kits on these days.
Homework is set on a Monday via Microsoft Teams and due in the following Monday. Please ensure that you bring your homework books into school every Monday ready for a whole class discussion. Homework will consist of:
